MATSUKEN SAMBA

Look at this shining SAMURAI! He is KEN MATSUDAIRA who is famous as the TV star of SAMURAI drama series. His new CD 'MATSUKEN SAMBA' will be released on July. MATSUKEN SAMBA is the song that he performs wearing spangled KIMONO in his concert. How bizarre is this fusion of SAMURAI + Latin music + disco culture!!!
By the way, the words, 'Ole' 'Senorita' 'Amigo' appear in the lyric of this 'Samba'. This songwriter may not know the difference between Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

I tried it and found I'm a terrible poet. How can they rhyme? I guess your students can do it better.

I just came across the video from the 15dec2004 TV live version of him doing that song with lots of disco-geisha's dancing samba .. very funny ...

Is there a meaning to the word Matsuken? or is it just a play on his own name? Matsudaira no samba or something ?

"Matsuken" comes from his name: MATSUdaira KEN.
I saw Matsuken on TV while I was an exchange student in Japan this summer and bought the CD for myself ^_^
He's the world's only singing and dancing samurai.

I also saw "Katsuken," who makes fun of Matsuken on the weekly SMAPxSMAP show (quite funny ^_^).

Oh, yes, and "Matsuken Samba III" just came out.
